#13 ALSA 0.9 problems

I'm using GDAM 0.942 on Slackware Linux 8.1, 2.4.18
kernel, two sound cards: SB Audigy and SB PCI 128.
I've compiled ALSA 0.9rc2 and I configured GDAM to use
it. I have to set at least logfragsize=11: if I manage
to get even a small droput, GDAM closes the ALSA device
with "output device had problem, terminating".
With these settings, my sistem (Athlon 900) is very
unresponsive.
I think something is wrong with the ALSA version I have
installed. What version was GDAM ALSA 0.9 interface
developed with?
Everything is ok with ALSA OSS emulation (logfragsize < 8)!
I'm switching from ALSA 0.5 (which worked ok) because
my new SB Audigy is only supported under 0.9.
