The availability via GPL doesn't automatically mean there aren't other 
ways to license (at least as long the software in question is not 
derived from GPLed work).

Actually, http://www.oberhumer.com/opensource/lzo/#introduction states:
"Special licenses for commercial and other applications are available by 
contacting the author."
