In digging back through some old stuff about portal rendering, I came across some info about a 'DVA' engine, which was supposed to have some cool new algorithm for visibility determination. Of course, the stuff I've been digging through is more than 5 years old, so it's probably not all that cool or new anymore, but I haven't been able to find any info about what algorithm they were actually using. Anybody know/remember? |

The closest thing that comes to mind is dPVS (http://www.hybrid.fi/main/dpvs/index.php) - any chance what you're thinking of evolved into that?
