There is a nice demo of exactly that - called 'Atlantis'
IIRC. You should find it one one of the OpenGL sites
out there. It has whales and sharks swimming around
in a blue fog with projective texture caustics.
It looks pretty good - although a better choice of
caustic texture could have been made IMHO.
