I'm fairly certain that the entire discussion has been about messages
between threads  on a single machine. There has been very little
discussion about networking since the original post. So, in this case
I think the term message is more appropriate as it implies that they
are deferred and not performed immediately. And there should be little
confusion with network communication as networking isn't particularly
relevant to the discussion atm.
