-----BEGIN PGP SIGNED MESSAGE----- Hash: SHA1 I am offering my Perl skills to write an install script for setting up the PostgreSQL side of things. If this is wanted and the developers are willing let me know. A small permissions error when installing gcdb on my system cause me a lot of problems. I reported then in th bug tracker of sourceforge. A simple install script would have prevented the problem. I offer it as Perl because I don't know PHP. I could do it in C or C++ if that is petter. I feel that Perl is the better choice for it though. We don't use MySQL but I could adapt the install to configure the MySQL later. It could also walk the user through the configuration of the gcdb-settings.php file. - -- Roy Souther <ro...@Si...> www.SiliconTao.com A new computer virus is suspected to soon cripple the Internet, Micro$oft says it should be available next week. -----BEGIN PGP SIGNATURE----- Version: GnuPG v1.0.6 (GNU/Linux) Comment: For info see http://www.gnupg.org iEYEARECAAYFAjy4ij8ACgkQCbnxcmEBt40krgCgh/1kqxSCB9mcuYsFBynx6w16 XJ4AnA4tKZsb1mPwamvxeRPcnDRrlDPP =oDBC -----END PGP SIGNATURE----- |

Hello, I needed a way to keep track of monthly invoices & payments with gcdb, so I worked up the following page. It separates the data by month, but also totals the monthly balance (payments, taxes & invoices). I've also set it with links to, either view the customer data or invoice and also to resend invoices at a click. For folks not running perl this is likely a useful addition. Couple additions.. I wanted to be able to classify invoices into categories (so I had to add a field to that table). The code allows you to view invoices/payments by category. I have already added taxes, exchange rates, etc. which also influences the code. However, if someone wants to introduce this or something like it into the upcoming release that would be great. Hello, I hear that we're now working for a mid January release: > Read and respond to this message at: > http://sourceforge.net/forum/message.php?msg_id=1448044 > By: adorosh > > I'm going make release in the middle of the January. > I'm working on ip/dns accounting (firstly) and > on e-mail accounting. So, first I'm wondering what changes are planned for this release. Especially with merging the different branches of the CVS into the main code. Next, I'm wondering where the changes to the code which I submitted? Looks like we've losted the tax, currency & HTML invoices which I added to the code... Just want to know what's going on.. Well I have already found out that Customer and Tenant is different by how the databases work. The Database for a tenant holds a lot more information like thier application info (DOB, SSN, Prev Address,) etc. Also being new to database design, I know that it isn't wise to have one big glob of fields to enter in. Not only is it cumbersome to manage but it is hard have the entries all on one page as well. I have already designed a good tenant database in MS Access already and I just want to be able to convert it over to be using MySQL. Can you explain how you would have a Application table that would line up with a tenant table that would line up with a house table?? gp...@ma... wrote*: > >'Pro' heh! > >Well, the 'Customers' and 'Products' are mainly just words. Ahh I see. I'm somewhat familiar with the diff program, however i've never really used it, and am not sure what the process is for generating these patches.. let's take this scenario: I download the latest CVS code over the course of a week or so, I work on a particular feature, and feel that it is good, and ready to submit. What do I do from there? Is there a function of CVS that will compare my files to the latest code, or.. how do I know if someone has/hasn't worked on the same file as me in the mean time? I don't actively work on gcdb anymore, but I'll speak up, since the list is usually very very quiet. To send a patch, just send the diff file to the list, and explain what the patch provides. The best way is to try and seperate your patches by features, not sending one giant patch that does alot of little jobs. I'm glad to hear gcdb helps you out, keep letting us know how you are working with it! Just joined the list, and wanted to say hi. I think you guys have a great thing going, this software has come closer to matching our needs as a web hosting provider than any others. Over the coming weeks or so, I will be making some changes to the code on our end to tweak it a bit, to try and make it work more like the way we want, and I will be in charge of development, and was hoping to be able to submit a patch here or there. I've never worked on an open source project before, and was kind of wondering what the process is for submitting a patch? Thanks, Mike |
