Howdy all, this is something I've wanted to do for 10 forevers, requires the new MplabX, release 5.0 to evaluate. The Atmel X-plained "xmini 328p" is under 10$.
Here's the relevant screen cap ... just wanted to share this is possible. There are some quirks, but the running gears are there. The LED is blinking happily.
I did some testing with a fairly large 16-bit XLP PIC16F project, and the new SNAP debugger setups and flashes in just a few seconds ... I am waiting on Digikey for some newer GCB compatible chips to try ...

Looking at the assembler give one an appreciation of how efficient GCB is on the Atmel platform.

Sould work accross PIC/AVR product lines, maybe ARM eventually...
