First remark : why does this not install like a well behaved program in \program files ?
IDE opens, now what ? The help file says "When a GCBASIC source file is opened, check out the “GCB tools” menu ( IDE Tools / GCB tools ) -" Where is this menu ? i spent half an hour looking for this cannot find it. "Try the right mouse button" nothing of use there either ...
Next : "You have to select the appropriate programmer in “Edit Programmer Preferences” ( IDE Tools / GCB tools / Edit Programmer Preferences"
Where is this thing hiding ?
Help : "GCBASIC will now attempt to flash the microcontroller with that programmer first when you click on "Make HEX and FLASH" ( F5 ) or "FLASH previous made hexfile" ( F8 ). "
The function keys work but there is no menu to click. no ribbon, no icons ... what is this contraption ?
help "Select Terminal - Run". A list of things pops up ... what is this ? DOS ? can i have a menu with icons please ? This is ridiculous.
I have used many other IDEs from IAR , Altera, Nohau, Lauterbach , Tasking , Keil , ARM , Hitex, No problem.
This thing baffles me.
Click Start debugging : No debugger installed
Click Run without debugging : No debugger installed . huh ? i wanted to run without debugging, why are you complaining there is no debugger ?
How do you set breakpoints ? bookmarks ? line numbers ? basic editor commands like undo, redo icons.
if i have to do everything using keyboard shortcuts i'm going to install DOS on my machine.
frustrated. This is one weird IDE

I am not what you installed or what you can see. The installation of the legacy IDE is what you are describing.

But, this sounds like you are trying the legacy IDE commands in the GCODE IDE. A screenshot would help.

Sounds like you are in GCODE.
So, going back to previous question. Top Right has a set of icons ( or should have).

This is the mulitplatform Open Source Visual Studio. I have not used those you listed. My bad

This is work in progress. More develops mean we get that all working in the future.

No. Press <f4>, shortcuts, icons at top right.</f4>

It is Open Source Visual Studio. If you want to adapt it. Feel free to. But, I get the learning curve message.

Lots of great points.
There are many 3rd party applications that do not work in program files. Many of the supporting utilities would require total rewrites to make work in program files. See https://sourceforge.net/p/gcbasic/discussion/579126/thread/0d009b1785/ for a list of the utilities.
