What have been the experiences, if any, with Futurlec for parts? They seem to be a bit secretive about who they are, no phone, and don't give out much info on shipping or orders other than what is on their web site, even when asked. They also seem to charge $33 for Priority mail shipping when the actual USPS cost is $4-$5. Feels iffy....

Nice stuff there, but I don't like risks with my info and credit card. If so, I'll stick with Digikey or Mouser.

    Thanks,

I've had pretty good luck with them ,their prices are great on their development boards.  That price seems high on shipping, guess it depends on what all your getting.  Had three boards and some connectors sent FedEx for $16, and was here in U.S. in 3 days.  There standard mail is cheaper, but pretty slow, like up to 10 business days.

I have used them many times, like them plan to continue.  They may be out of astrulia ( sp ) with office in ny.  Packages sometimes seem to have come from afar.
One order took a long time, but rest ok.  Shipping is an issue, but price no secret.

I order most of my things from Jameco.com. The prices are great. Get their free catalog. It will inspire you.

I have used Futurlec several times with good results.  They have some parts that others don't have.

Just bought a PICKIT2 from Allied Electronics though. They had an excellent price and fast delivery.  Their PIC prices are very low too.

This is to Mike. The PICKIT 2 you obtained from Allied. Is it a current unit, that is, does the development board contain a 16F887. The older unit contained a 16F917.

Yes, it does contain the 16F887.  actually I purchased the PICKIT2 debug express.  Both the old and new were offered at the same price so I thought I would try the debug.

Just got it a week ago.  Been practicing using GCBasic and the board works fine as long as in gcbasic I use a target of the 16f887A instead of the 16f887. I am trying to track down the cause and think it is in the assembler lnk file??  Enjoying exploring GCBasic and wish the documentation was in one place, onefile but it is working great!
