I can get the GC basic IDE to find and use the Pickit3, but for GCStudio, it keeps goint to the wrong place and I cannot find where to edit it. Probably something simple I missed, but....

Tried that in the GCStudio folder (the programmer preference.exe in the folder). I put it to the top and checked the edit. but when I do f5, it goes to a directory for an earlier version of MPlabx that I uninstalled. It does work ok in the GCbasic ide, jut not in the GC Studio. Is there a different place I need to do it?
I'm playing with a PIC16F886

Ok I'm confused. Which perfs Editor? The one in the IDE or the one I can't find in GCStudio?
I foun a programmer editor.exe in both directories, and they are correct. Also the one in the IDE tools/GCB tool, the edit programmer there is different.

In GCODE IDE press function key F4, the type PREF the Preferences Editor option will be shown. Select that one. It will open the Prefs Editor with the correct setup file.

Hi Joe,
If you open Preferences Editor then you can drag the PICKit3 programmer to the top of the list.
What chip are you trying to program?

⁴Can you share a video?
I am guessing.
but, I am guessing you are using MPLAB-IPE to use the PK3.
So, in Prefs Editor there is a tab called Tool Variables. Change the 'mplabxipedirectory' to your installed location.
Or, upgrade to PICKITPLUS... it is faster and easier. Blatant plug for the software.
Ok I'm confused. Which perfs Editor? The one in the IDE or the one I can't find in GCStudio?

Dang! That was it. Thank you.
Pleasure, see www.pickitplus.co.uk to get PICKITPLUS software, you don't have to use MPLAB-X. And, you get to support the PICKitPlus project.
I'll look in to it.
