After successfuly programming several 12F1840's and 16F1825 I went on to 16F18857. With no success though.

I installed the latest PICkit3 GUI from here: https://sourceforge.net/projects/gcbasic/files/Support%20Files/PicKit/ . I also updated the OS for the PICkit from the same download.

After connecting a 16F18857 the tool replies "No device found"
I tried to power the PIC externally (this helped with the 16F1825) to no avail.

Is it supposed to work or is the chip simply not supported?

    Regards,
    Johan

@Johan Sir, I have this problem using pickit3 and win 7. The same pickit3 works fine on win 10...on different pc. Both using gcb picckit 3 not from microchip...which were same version.

@Stan please do not confuse things without stating the context. What version of Pk3 GUI, what chip database etc etc.

@Johan. If you look at this thread https://sourceforge.net/p/gcbasic/discussion/projects%26guides/thread/ce3c8083/ and then search for the 16f18857 you will see it is not listed. The 16f18857 is therefore not yet supported by the build of the PicKit3.

So, for now. Use MPLAB-IPE to program the chip. You will have to change the PicKit3 to MPLAB mode before using MPLAB-IPE.

We are working to fix this issue but we need more time.
