I have a wicked idea, but again I think someone else has had the same idea. I want to make some simple Ethernet controlled switches, for a SOHO network. I have followed some threads from other forums and I think a Guy called Rafael developed a project called PICNIC about 10 years ago.
I feel confident enough developing a windows based GUI, The circuitry is not a problem, but I am not quite sure where to start with the PIC. Has anyone developed a similar project or seen Mr. Rafael’s PICNIC Project? Once again I appreciate any input from all who think they can help.**
Oh, and I nearly forgot, a very Merry Christmas and a peaceful and prosperous New Year to all.**

For me, a wireless network would seem more relevant today? Depending on ones location, a wireless router can be a very inexpensive purchase at a local thrift store or auction site. Using OPENWRT or a similar download, communications to a PIC over RS232 or USB can be used for control. There are several examples on the net.

Thanks again for you input. I feel at this stage of the project (A Pipedream!) a wireless application would be a natural progression. The purpose of the project is a learning curve in interfacing Ethernet communication technology and PIC Technology.
