Could you advise on which programmer is required to upload code on the above and are additionl tool variables needed?
    Thanks

Do you have the part number of the PIC18F16Q41 Curiosity Nano board?

  • Geoffrey Penwright

The sticker on the underside of the board says:
    A09-3378/02
    SN:1800000166
    2020.09.03

One of these? if yes, you dont need anything to program. I do not have one., but, you will need a USB port and cable. The board has a virtual drive and a virtual comm port. The IDE will copy your hex to the virtual drive - this event will automatically program the chip.

As I have never seen one... someone send me ome and I will ensure the programming interface works. We may have to tweak the little application that supports this board. The exists support applications may work...but, hook the board and then select XPress Board in Programmer Preferences and see what happens.

The board I purchased from Microchip is listed as EV26Q64A
I will try the Xpress CNANO Board USB (16F18466) in the IDE - wasn't sure about the ref to 16F18466 but will test and see what happens.

    Try.

There are two Xpress board apps. Try both.

If the work - let me know.

If they fail - I simple need the virtual drive Title and the capacity of the virtual drive. From that we can write the updates app.

Have tested these and they both seem to work OK .
    Thanks for your help

:-( ... I could have sold you PICKitPlus software. :-)

Pleasure - we should update the Programmer Preferences ? What is a better name then Xpress CNANO Board USB (16F18466) ? Some more generic?

Don't Microchip call it PKOB (PICKit on Board) ?

Well do they? Not a POB but a Bootloader with special features. I know it is not a PICKit. :-)

I agree it is not a PICKit but I am sure that is what Microchip call all onboard programmers starting with the First Curiosity board and continuing with the Xpress Boards.

Microchip and Logic are not synonymous.

              ha ha....

The first was the Xpress 16F18855 it was just the basics. Now they have advanced with more Interns knocking up more stuff in the summer.

              LOL

I think Microchip CNANO USB is OK. When I originally saw the references to 16Fxx pics on the two Xpress board options I was wary - hence my original posted question. When I tested both of those options I selected the Curiosity option rather than Xpress and specified the drive letter when the board was pugged in. It was tested with 2 examples from your earlier video series with 4 flashing leds and 4 leds with pot.
