Hi Anobium. What is now the way gcb updates?
I've used RC releases and one needed gcb deleted not the usual just install on old RC.
Then I see patches which I didn't fancy trying.
Is it now just wait for latest release and install it.. which was the old way and easy.
Should we uninstall gcb in windows or just install new version or delete all gcb in prog files then install it?
It's no problem downloading a full new gcb version. It'll be like windows updates.

      Great questions.

You dont have to apply the patches. If something is serious enough I will issue a new installer. So, you can just wait.

The patches are intended to resolve specific issues and folks can download as required.

The issue here is keeping all the code consistent and up to date. If I reissue the installer for a trivial fix then folks will get hacked off. So, patches means I can maintain a consistent tool chain for everyone.

I can see your options. I will wait for the latest gcb versions because no problems... for me,
with last version...or the one before that... and the one before that :)
If people get annoyed with downloading the latest gcb version and installing it that's their problem. I don't think it's a problem. It's not like win upgrades.
It takes minutes... unless you use linux... or a mac . :)

Updating with a new installation can take more than a few minutes, especially if the IDE has been highly customized like mine. The IDE customizations will be over written and so will the GCB "USE.ini" file that configures Programmers, Assembler/Compiler Options and paths

Unless the associated configuration files are saved prior to the new install these will all be lost and all customizations will need to manually done all over again.
