After finally getting past Norton AV deleteing four attempts to downlaod GCB_Installer-95.exe it's finally installed on my W7HP PC. According to my download files I downloaded GCGB back in 2013. I never did much with it because I wasn't interested in Flowchart programming. I'm a 70 year old VB6 programmer and was looking for a PIC basic syntax that I'd be comfortable with. So it wasn't until recently, while involved in discussions on the Picaxe and ElectronicsPoint forums, that I resumed my quest to find a comfortable programming environment.
My immediate impressions of GCB thus far are very positive though there are things that are confusing me. For one thing the Properties panel of IDE.exe, gcbasic.exe, IDE.exe, gcbasic.bas and probably some I've missed contain no file versions?? Also some of the GCB_Installer-95.exe extraction files seem to have mixed with my original and old GCGB fies. Possibly I should have unistalled GCGB before running GCB_Installer-95.exe.
So before I ask any more questions or make any further statements should I uninstall all GCB files and run GCB_Installer-95.exe again to do a clean install?
BTW, I should mention that I was never a professional VB6 programmer. I'm a retired electronics engineering tech.
Thanks
Chris

Yes, uninstall/delete everything GCB related. Then do a clean install of the latest GCB which is .95.010. This assures you have the latest of everything.
Depending upon what programmer you have, you may have to edit the "FlashPIC.bat" file to get your programmer up and running.
Any questions,.feel free to ask.

William, I'm glad that I saved the link to this thread in a text file because I'm still not receiving email notifications of topic replies. That said, thank you for the reply and the advice. I will do so as soon as I finish my wife's honey-do list.
First though I'm going back into my profile to see why I'm not receiving reply alerts. Personally I'd like to received notifications to all posts made to all sections of the GCB forum so I can keep up to date with what's new, buggy or what others would like to have in the IDE. I know that I'd like to see an alphabetised list of all GCB commands, statements and keywords. The way the Commands are listed in help files is logical but a seperate (alphabetic - in line) list would be nice too.
This is great software and I'm EXCITED!
Thank you again,
Chris

The attached file is part of the GCB installlation. I have attached so you do not have to hunt around your installation.
The nice thing about this file is that... 1) it opens in the IDE and therefore links directly to the Help 2) We maintain this file to test the IDE Helpers - so, it should up to date. There may be things missing from this Alpha list - just let me know and we can add/correct.
I just discovered the check boxes associated with each topic and now the "Update Email Subscriptions" button makes more sense. Maybe now I'll receive alerts.

OMG! That's 'EXACTLY' what I was looking for! The best part of GCB.gbc is the right click drop down option: "GCB - Help". It takes you directly to that command description in the Help files. Complete with detailed description and sample code for the command that was right clicked. ...Awesome!
Sorry for the prolific use of exclamation points but GCB has me very excited and it's not easy to excite a 70 year old. ;-) The GCB development team truly do deserve accolades for such a user friendly app.
Unfortunately I'm still not receiving email alerts. I thought this was set in my profile/preferences but that didn't do it. I then checked the box next to my topic and clicked "Update Email Subscriptions". What am I missing?
Thank you very much.

Not a spam filter somewhere? I've had some problems with this in the past - my sf.net account is connected to my Gmail account, which forwards everything to my ISP account. The ISP account blocked a few things before I added sf.net to the whitelist.

There was nothing in my spam or deleted folders so I enabled the RSS reader. I use OE Classic email client in conjuction with Yahoo mail. We'll see how this works.
Thanks!

Hey, I just started another topic and while posting it I discovered why I wasn't receiving email alerts. No one told me about the little envelope icon at the top of the topics window that enables this feature. Now it's all working. Yay!

Thanks for the great feedback.
We do have an alpha list. Pdf ok?
Hello Anobium and thanks for the tip. Where would I find that alpha list.pdf?
BTW, I'm still not receiving reply alerts in my email and I have no idea why.
Thanks,
Chris

No one knows why I'm not receiving email alerts?

Not sure. My method is to monitor the RSS feed. The feed has all changes including edits to existing posts.
An email client typically includes an RSS reader. Outlook does.
The feed URL is https://sourceforge.net/p/gcbasic/activity/feed?source=project_activity
There was nothing in my spam or deleted folders so I enabled the RSS reader. I use OE Classic email client in conjuction with Yahoo mail. We'll see how this works.
