Is it possible for the installer to sort out the permissions thing on Windows 10 (possibly windows 8 too) when you install into C:\Program Files(x86)? With GCB it means your settings in Syn are lost including the recent files list because it can't save to an ini file.
I get around it by:
- Making the GCB@Syn folder and its contents not read only
- Take ownership of the folder
- Apply the security settings to everything else in the folder
I'm not sure if it's possible to get the installer to sort this automatically - it happens with quite a few bits of software that I use, especially stuff from Sourceforge!

If you would like to refer to this comment somewhere else in this project, copy and paste the following link:
I'm pretty sure I have Windows 10 home, so there is my user account and I can run things as administrator (i.e. I can sudo) but I don't think my user account is an administrator.
If I run something as me, and it needs admin rights it will and ask me to give admin rights, and I just click yes.
I think this is to stop me downloading a catvideo.avi.exe from a website, opening it and it silently formatting my hard drive. I get prompted to confirm that catvideo.avi.exe wants to change my system.
Happy to test out a modified installer (I'm not around next week though).

@Peter. I looked at the installer. And, I am not sure I understand the issue. I just installed into Win10 ewith no issues. Can you email a walk thru of the issues and the recommended changes?

The GCB installer creates a desktop Icon for GCGB even when the box is not checked. Can this be fixed?
Should be fixed in the next build at any release after 0.95.010
GCB "HELP" is always full screen by default. When resized, closed, and opened again it reverts back to full screen. This is rather annoying.
This behavior is because help is set to always "maximize" in the external tools setup.
Why not remove the "maximize" parameter and let the user decide the size of the help window that they prefer?.
William
Remind me. How do I stop full screen? I cannot remember.
IDE Tools - Customize external tools ...
select 1: GCBHelp
delete "maximise" in Parameters
Frank
I will write down this time!! :-)
Thank you
I've just got around to installing 0.95.010...
