If Evan gets it then gcb will stall. He has mentioned a contingency plan.
I couldn't do the developement he has done. Who will support gcb?
It is open source so in theory any one can contribute but gcb needs management.
Who's going to manage the updates etc. ?
One guy does the gcb web home page and Germany has many cases.
Sorry if this post is depressing but it can't be brushed under the carpet.

Have you got it? It's supposed to affect people differently. I'm 66 and worrying....but I am always paranoid, sceptical and negative...ie tied to ground. Earthed.
Staying in will stop eveyone getting it at once and the chaos but we must all get it eventually.
In a copable way I hope.
Who can read data sheets like you do Evan?

The only critical person to the project is Hugh. If Hugh was not longer available or willing then we would stay at the existing release of the compiler until someone picked up his role.
If I were not available, or Peter for PPS, or Frank etc. The project would stay at the existing release distribution until someone else picked up these roles.
The current release is v0.98.07 release candidate 6 [GCB_Installer-v0.98.07 RC06.exe] There are enough people with this release to protect the current work. We have a number of bugs but this will not be looked at until April.
I have provided a few people the information on the complete tool chain used to produced the distributions but no-one has stepped forward to either take-over or to test. We are at a point where this is now a real risk. The toolchain is relatively simple as all the hard work has been done. But, should the worse happen. Just create a load of ZIP and post that.
Regarding this forum. There are three of use with Admin rights. So, to have all three of us go off line would be bad. Personally, I have given instructions on what to do ... if the worse happens. This includes contacting a few folks to ensure they know I am permanently offline.
Summary. Should be ok.

I don't think that will be what happens but gcb could be like arduino and anyone can post an include file or like rpi when anything goes cos no one can program hardware from data sheets
so the same.
I don't know who runs this forum but a forum is not that difficult to set up.
It's having someone who can answer problems. What would picaxe be without hippy?
Sorry if negative thoughts but I got house insurance but don't expect the roof to blow off.
The compiler seems the main thing about gcb. It is updated for pic but seems sorted for arduino. So it'll work as is forever on arduino and the pics it supports...some later ones iffy won't get sorted. I don't care cos pics are complicated etc.
Will my version 98.6 still work like win 7 still does?
Who thought they'd drop an atomic bomb on Hiroshima.Stuff happens

Well my overseas holiday is cancelled and now our President has just confined us all to our homes until the 13 of April at the earliest. So I have no excuse now for the projects lying idle on the bench. Time to get back to some coding I guess.
May all: "Live long, and prosper."

Time to sort old projects.
It uses a port expander supported by gcb
Servo actuators are easy...it's getting it to walk...a sequence..and needs big psu...not onboard batteries yet.. 18 servos to sort...that's why I like doing graphics...easier
Hi guys.
Here in Italy we are practically in the trenches.
I hope you are all well and I recommend everyone to take due care.
Hello everyone !
Jack
Thanks Jack, you take care of yourself too.
Stay on the Internet forum and not in the local Plaza.
I am due in Venice on the 13th of May and I still don't know if the Cruse will go ahead or, if it does, if I can get my onward connection to the UK.
The Old Chinese curse says “May you live in interesting times”. But I think that the Chinese have inadvertently given us all an interesting time now.

Bad for you there. So far in Latvia, only a few are ill. The main thing is that everything comes from China ... mostly all our parts ...
Hold on, Jack
Try to: Stay healthy, stay happy.
Everyone be safe.
Glad to be alive after influenza & pnuemonia. Very important to follow the proper health practices. Not time for blame. Let's beat this corona beast.

They are taking it super serious here in Ireland. Mass cancelled for a month!!!!
I just got back from St. Patricks Day lunch, I suspect we celebrated it far more than the Irish this year.

I think that this is the first ever recorded mention of an Open Source Project going Viral as a bad thing 😉😉
My puter being coughing lately. so much for Defender...bad joke
Hey.... I may survive.
I will post a full post of worse case later.

Dear Paranoid,
Be chilled.
:-)
Hey! What happened to you all? Are you ill that you are talking about GCB collapsing? Are any sick?
All good here. The post is the worse case. :-)
Getting better & better each day. I feel like my second life has begun.
Don't worry about GCB "collapsing". It will not collapse.

I hope it doesn't happen.
Let's be optimistic and wish the GCB a long life with everyone.
May all: "Live long, and prosper."
