I've just got some graphics LCD displays (displaytech 64128K) with ST7565R drivers (they were cheap).
First problem I am having is very basic - are the pin diagram from above (viewing side) or below.
Also is there any existing drivers that would be a starting point to trying to drive this display? I will trying the SPI interface rather than the parallel.

I would wait a week.
Wait for the next release of v0.98.00. This will contain new GLCD drivers and the new libraries will really help you get this integrated.
Currently, we have two GLCDs under developement, so , I think you make three.
This is a pretty simple driver to implement. There are a number of online resources for this.
There are two types of ST7565R so your implementation needs to allow for two types of hardware.
I would very stronly recommend you use the new SSD1306 driver as this has all the new capabilities and this already support two hardware types.
When we get the release out I will allocate you a GLCD device ID etc. I have created a GLCD starter pack....
Questions? OK to hold off for a week?

No problem. It is going to take a week to wire it up what with all the charge pump capacitors. I still haven't worked out if the pin diagrams are above or below - pretty crucial.

Ping me about a week after the release goes on general release.

A piece of cake...not really. Why do data sheets look so intimidating? It's like they don't want you to use the device.
