Please donate to support the operational costs of the GCBASIC Project. Thank you! gcbasic.com/donate
This year, we are reaching out to those who use this project to contribute.
Please contribute as much as you can afford.
If you are a business or are selling products that leverage this project, consider becoming a Platinum supporter. Donations at different levels, such as Gold, Silver, or Bronze, are also welcome. The new donation page will feature details of all our supporters, and you will have permission to use the GC STUDIO logo.
Your money IS Needed
GCBASIC Project is an Open Source Project but there are real costs involved. Each year, we ask for your contributions to cover these expenses.
GC Studio, the website, the tools, the storage, the software licenses, the backups, the testing hardware - the list is long.
I try at all times to get industry or suppliers to provide items for free or at discounted prices but money is needed.
Global inflation means that costs have risen and buying services from international suppliers has mitigated some price rises.

- We may incur additional hosting costs from SourceForge in the coming year. These are not included.
- The XOJO license has been paid today to avoid the risk of losing it and having to pay for a full license.
- While it might seem like these costs could be reduced, the management cost of making changes is significant.
- Anyone want a cNano board that I blew up? I drew to much current and damage the power IC.

Truly, the more funds. The better the project.

Hello friends. I really like your project. I am ready to donate a small amount, but the methods indicated on your website do not work in Russia. Is there any other way to donate?

Aleksandr, and others reading this, please use any method to send donations that suits your country ( in terms of constraints ). Send me a personal message or an email ( this is shown at the top of GCBASIC generated ASM file ), or, direct to donations AT anobium . co . uk. Tell me your method and what I should be looking for. I will transfer to the GCBASIC account.

Anyone got a good way to collect GCBASIC donations when in-country constraints prevent the uses of PayPal or eBay to donate?
The safest way and cheapest is via a PayPal or eBay. I am sure you all know that any direct banking transfer(s) [where I share my personal banking details] are not protected and have well known inherent risks. Me sharing my personal banking details 'is not smart' ( to quote the bank yesterday).
Alekandr wants to donate but is unable. But, his issue highlights an issue for donors. There has seen significant engagement from the global community. This underscores the global appeal and utility of GCBASIC, making it an essential tool for developers across borders. Donations from across the world is needed, as this helps maintain the continuous development and support of GCBASIC by contributing to the operation costs.
I am stumped at the moment on how to resolve supporting donations for a number of major countries.
I am looking for ideas on how to safely and legally transfer donations to the GCBASIC donation fund.

US$ in an envelope might be the only way, however remember that currently it is illegal to be paid from countries on the western sanctions list. This includes Russia & North Korea.

Specific to Russia. Due to the current sanctions and restrictions on providing IT services and selling software to Russia, it is challenging to get paid directly by a Russian member of the public.
However, there are alternative methods such as using an intermediary payment service that complies with international regulations. As always it is always a good idea to consult with a legal expert to ensure compliance with all relevant laws and regulations.

Important Update for GCSTUDIO, GCODE, SYNWRITE, and GCSTUDIO Tool Chain Users
Please do not skip this 1-minute read
As of January 1st, 2025, the GCBASIC fundraiser should have completed, but it has not.
If you have used the GCBASIC software a few times, we hope you have gained at least £5.00 worth of knowledge and insights into using microcontrollers.
Please join the other users who contribute what they can to keep this valuable toolchain free to use, ad-free, up-to-date, and available for all.
After 20 years, GCBASIC remains what a 12 year old Hugh Considine promised—a microcontroller toolchain that is free and built on collaborative knowledge.
If you are undecided, remember that most users don't donate and even fewer give monthly, so any contribution helps. If GCBASIC has provided you with at least £5.00 of knowledge, kindly consider starting a monthly donation today – the best option for a lasting impact. Any contribution helps, whether £5.00 or £50. Thank you.
Please use the above link to donate. The average 2024 donation in the UK is around £6. Many first-time donors give £5.00. All that matters is that you are choosing to support a free, open toolchain; and for that, you have our gratitude.

It should be embedded in www.gcbasic.com, it is invisible here.
New gcbasic.com is fancy and modern web page, but its SEO ranking is low.
Google search for "gcbasic" puts it on fourth place and should be number one.
Maybe to redirect gcbasic.sourceforge.io to gcbasic.com and embed Ko-fi there.
example: https://photodemon.org/donate/
Multiple official homepages are not good, there should be only one.
If you would like to refer to this comment somewhere else in this project, copy and paste the following link:
yes, we need to add GCBasic.com to the description in the main page of the source forge project. I will add the ko-fi link to the donations page.
re SEO rank: I agree, we need a better ranking, the current low ranking must be because the domain has not been used a lot and the web page is mostly new.
I'm open to ideas.
Angel

i used a middleman to pay with Paypal. Yes, it will increase the cost. But I don't know any other methods.

Would you be willing to work with Angel to improve? All help is very welcome.
Sure, but I am good at electronics and googling, newer did any web design or programming.
Redirection of "gcbasic.sourceforge.io" to "gcbasic.com" should be somewhere in Sourceforge admin settings.
Instructions for embedding Ko-fi are here:
