The next release of Great Cow BASIC v.0.98.07 is being prepared.
The build is ready as Release Candidate 1. Called Great Cow BASIC v.0.98.07 RC01.
Great Cow BASIC v.0.98.07
Has many updates, new capabilities and quality improvements since the v0.98.06 Release include fixes within the main compiler, dat file updates, K4x critical fixes across the toolchain, PPSTOOL, new capabilities to support PCINFO, many quality improvements for the generated ASM and new GLCD capabilities.
As we now have a much wider community of users and Operating Systems - how do want to do this?
In the past I have put a call out for folks to test the release but, this focuses on the Windows release. How do we do the same for the other Operating Systems?

I would continue to make win gcb a priority. As for testing then users of newer pics would be best testers as getting newer pics working seems to have been problems that are fixed in new release. Great work.
I doubt it'll be any different using avr to previous versions.

I would like to try the release candidate on Linux and test it with my limited resources.
Let's see how many users report here. Wouldn't that be a good basis for test candidates?

I might be a candidate to see if a novice can get it running on linux.
It's just get the latest build for linux...debian,does it matter,no choice and unzip it , then compile with freebasic you have previously installed, make a file executable, run it,see what happens and you should have gcb in opt.
maybe I missed something there but that's the jist for non win users.
nice way to spend a weekend....not!
If not for bed's guide http://gcbasic.sourceforge.net/Typesetter/index.php/Install-Great-Cow-BASIC-for-Linux linux newbies would have no idea how to install gcb on linux.
That guide only worked for me after I installed freebasic in user/bin not downloads. As is directory files aren't there.
google gcb linux...it's so old info. Compared to win, linux gcb is not about basic code it's about installing.
