Hello everybody.
I am presently running the "old" GCBasic (not Studio) on a W7 x64 PC not connected to the net. In a near future I will replace this PC, either with a Linux machine or a Mac.
1) I have read the description about the installing of all software under Linux ; OK, it's a "gaseous plant" but something bothers me : at the end of the IDE, there are functions to compile and flash software for the PIC. But what's about AVR ?
2) And if I choose a Mac, will I find again my usual Synwrite IDE ?
Thanks for any answer ...

Thanks ... Is part 2 of Your answer for Mac only (I know that some people use Wine on Mac) or for Linux, too ? I am not a "speed freak"so a longer compilation time would not cause an issue ... And I could use my present programmer (Mikroelektronika) too. But what's about the printing from an app inside Wine to a native Linux (or Mac) printer ? Personally, I would prefer Linux, the Mac has too many features (graphics) which are useless for me ...

We need the Linux or Mac guys to provide these answers, but, Linux and Mac are supported by the core compiler. Your issue will be the supporting toolchain like your IDE, programmer, update process etc.
