The standalone IDE using Synwrite is pretty good, has a great search/replace & lexer is very functional.
But there are a few issues (mainly with the comment text & line chr space proportion that cannot be addressed.
The more opensource successor CudaText should be a viable choice.
It could be provided in parallel to Synwrite for a while just in case there is some unforeseen issues.
I don't know how different all the GCBasic specific configuration, lexer, etc...would be between the 2 but being the same developers & a successor app I would assume to be similar.
just a thought or 2

The user Help is the barrier and cross platform support.
It became a question of whether to spend time on a strategic solution like GCSTUDIO or tactical with the like of CudaText. The result was go for a strategic solution.

Is just the editor GC code available to download, I don't think GC studio is for me.
My design PC workstation is strictly offline, & I'm not a big fan of auto updates, especially with a slow rural 4G . GCSTUDIO is pretty big at 607820k

But, you can turn off AutoUpdate. See the GCSTUDIO settings.
Another question for Angel: Could/should we add 'update Compiler Core Compents' ? This could just update the components the user selects? It would need a list of the tool chain to select from. This is an idea to create a Lite version.

It’s easy to make one update channel whit only Core updates (compiler and GCstudio launcher) this update will take only about 10mb give or take, GCcode and Demos will be not updated as those are the heaviest files.
We can consolidate this channel with the “Mainstream without demos”, I don’t know if some are using it, this new channel can supersede it or can be a separate one; your thoughts?
Edit:
If at any time the user want to update all components, just select back main stream and make a force update then go back to this "Lite" channel.
Angel.
