If I Test the calendar, I get the following error:
Testing phone calendar: Failed due to java.lang.
SecurityException:javax.microedition.pim.
EventList.read was denied.
The other http/https Tests pass.
This is on a Motorola V3x.
Any ideas what to do?

I have a similar error on my nokia 6230i.

You need to specifically tell your phone that this
application is allowed access your calendar data. I do this
by choosing options -> application settings, but that is for
a nokia.

yeah, I know I should be able to allow this, but my V3x
doesn't seem to have an option to actually allow accessing
phone data...

Seems this is a problem because it is not signed.

bynds you don't say what phone you're solution is for, and
what menu you were at when you selected options.
Got the same problem on a Nokia N70.

Hi mike,
Sorry this is on a series 40 platform 6280 nokia.
When I go to apps and then options then application settings
so forth.
Is the wap site just serving up the unsigned .jad?
Thoughts welcome

A follow up to my last post,
I think the wap site is just serving up the same file as
both the signed and unsigned links point to
http://www.gcalsync.com/gcalsync.jad
I may be wrong but I don't think the phone and server are
actually smart enough to negotiate the correct version but
as I said, I may be wrong.

I just tried installing the jad file, instead of the jar
file, i.e http://www.gcalsync.com/gcalsync.jad.
But now I get "unable to validate certificate" when installing !
But yes, it's almost as if the wrong files are on the web.
If I do a "Sync all", I get past the error we're all coming
across, and then get the NULL URI error that is also
mentioned in other gcal threads !

ok, I lied slightly in my last post. Just had my phone
repaired so the certificate settings had been reset, so the
thwart cert didn't have permissions to install apps.
Anyway put that back to normal, and installed the jad, not
the jar, and it doesn't throw up the error now. So give the
jad a go ( NOT from wap ), and you'll not get this error
anymore. ( but you'll get the next NULL URI error now,
whoopee doo ).

Hi mike,
When you say that the thwarte cert didn't have permission to
install apps, how exactly do you give it permission?

bynds, this is how to change it on the n70 ;
Menu --> Tools --> Settings --> Security --> Certif.Management
Scroll down and edit these two Certs ;
1 ) Thawte Premium Server CA
2 ) Thawte Server CA
Select options --> Trust Settings
You should then get the options ;
1 ) Symbian Installation ( yes )
2 ) Internet ( yes )
3 ) App installation ( yes )
4 ) Online certif checl ( no )
The words in brackets are what I've currently got it set to.
Edit these for BOTH certificates, and you're back on track.
As others say, you might want to change these values back
after you've got over your issues to avoid malware.

Hi mike,
Another question, open to anyone really,
When I use the nokia application installer it only lets me
install the jar file, I have the jad in the same directory.
I install the signed version and it says that the
application isn't supported. Any ideas?

Yeah I had the same problem with the nokia installer. I
removed the application completely from my phone, then send
the JAD file via a bluetooth file send, NOT the nokia
installation suite. Then I opened the file in messages and
installed from there.
