Moving forward: 0.0.95

I am soon to release gcalcrpn 0.1. and have moved development into the Beta stage. It's been about a year since I first started working on this project, and thinks are moving along well. I still have alot of work to do, but with the new interface design, the package is (at least in my opinion) alot more useable.

There are probably some really nasty bugs in this version, but I have squashed alot of really nasty bugs already, and decided to release based on the "release early, release often" motto. Hopefully I the jump from 0.0.5 to 0.0.95 wasn't too big, but I think that I can get this stable in 4 more releases. ... read more

Bug squashing, email, and stability

Hello my users!!

This is just a note to talk about gcalcrpn-0.0.5. Due to the fact that I have been kept seriously busy at school, I haven't been able to work on gcalcrpn too much lately.

The pre-0.0.5 release has added a feature which was requested by one of the users. You can now select how many digits you want to be displayed. If anyone has suggestions on other features then feel free to email me at eli@udel.edu. I would love some new ideas and will try as hard as reasonable to implement your ideas. ... read more

gcalcrpn-0.0.4

I have just released gcalcrpn-0.0.4. This new version has much improved (but still elvolving) matrix support. The LU and QR factorization routines are pretty stable and the system solver is working pretty well. Other minor tweaks were made to improve efficiency and stability.

New Release

Hello,
This post it just to tell you that I have realesed a slightly fixed version of 0.0.3 where the matrix inversion routine actually gives you the correct answer!!!! I made an ID10T error an the last release and I just caught it today. Sorry if you were using this for something important and blew yourself up or something, that's what you get for trusting a release version 0.0.3 .

Happy Hacking,
eli

Welcome to gcalcrpn

Hello,
I am the developer of gcaclrpn. I am a mathematics major at the University of Delaware and this just I got bored, so I decided to learn GTK. I figured that writing yet another rpn calculator would be a good project to I started development of gcaclrpn.
Somehow I actually got it to work!! Unfortulatley I kept sayign ti would be nice if it supported.... You know the rest. Th eproject balloned into what you see now, and this is just the beginning.
Unfortinatley I have only had 2 programming classes in my life so some of the code can be cleaned up alot. My real project with this is the matrix backend. I've been studying different matrix algorithms. Eventually I will be adding differential equations support but for now I am focusing on making what I already have work better.
I'm really looking for someone to re-write the plotter (which is currently just calling gri to produce a postscript file). Anyone who is interested in hacking this project please contact me.
This has the potential to be a very fun and interesting project and I really need some help. If you are interested please e-mail me at eli@udel.edu.
Thanks for your interest and Happy Hacking,
eli
