Hey guys, great program.Just run into a problem I can't seem to get around, however - the program seems unable to correctly graph the follwoing equation: y = sqrt(1-x^2) which is a translation of the pythagorean equation x^2 + y^2 = 1, or more broadly, a^2 + b^2 = c^2. The equation should, when sketched with y as the subject, show a full circle with radius 1 centred around the origin (0,0). Graphcalc appears to only be capable of showing the top half of the circle - that is, those values for which y is a positive number. I understand this probably has something to do with squared negative values and the square roots of negatives having no real value, but I have seen this equation correctly sketched on graphics calculators before. Am I doing something wrong? Thanks Paul |

Hello, I was wondering if it would be possible to implement a feature so that I could graph a system of inequalities like: 2x - 3 > y -x + 2 < y The "area" feature is so close to what I want, but it always shades with respect to where the x-axis is. If you can already do what I'm trying to do, can you tell me how? Thanks! ~Jason P.S. I'm running on a windows xp machine and I have the version 4.0.1 |

I find Graphcalc a fascinating and useful app. I need a least squares curve fit and polynomial solver with selectable order. I will probably write a general purpose version if you don't already have one in your library, I am also interested in 2 and 3 dimensional polynomial routines and sheet vector interpolation. Hello, The brazilian government, through its Education Department is developing a Project titled International bank of educational objects (http://objetoseducacionais2.mec.gov.br/). Some of the best medias will be a part of the Teachers Website (http://portaldoprofessor.mec.gov.br/ ), with activities available as suggestion for classroom activity, with free access. The research laboratory Multimeios of UFC (Federal University of Ceará), in partnership with the Federal Center of Technological Education (CEFETCE) are a part of this Project, in charge of researching Educational Objects in areas concerning Kindergarden through College. Within this group, I coordinate the team focusing on Elementary School, and our goal is to catalogue and develop educational activities with the educational resources available for free on the Internet. Im looking for medias (graphcalc) that have an educational purpose and that can help the learning process through the use of them by teachers in computer laboratories. In a recent internet research I found your media, and it fits the requirements of said Project. We are contacting you to request autorization to make it available, free of charge, in our data bank. Hi, My question is about how to use graphcalc to graph a straight line. For instance, coords (0,0) and (4,5), how would I use graphcalc just plot a straight line using these coords? Sirs:
May I have an off list reply to this question as I have not yet downloaded
GraphCalc, and am not subscribed to gcalc-users.
It appears from the reviews that GraphCalc is nice 3D graphing software.
I work for a parachute company, and generate x,y,z trajectory data for
flights, in Excel.
I would like to make a nice 3D line plot of this data.
The 3D graphing in Excel is awful.
Will I be able to import these 3 columns of data to plot in the GraphCalc
program?
Thank you very much.
Respectfully,

Hi! I am a high school math teacher and I have been using GraphCalc for classroom demos for quite some time, as well as using it to produce graphs for tests, worksheets, etc. It's a great program, but I have one question: I can't figure out how to graph a vertical line, like 'x = 3'....the equation input window seems to require 'y = ...' Thanks! Richard Waters |

Classification: UNCLASSIFIED Caveats: NONE Good Day, I would like an off-list reply to a graphcalc problem I'm having. I would like to know how to go about writing scripts. I noticed the graphcalc script files have a suffix of ".gcs". When I tried to view the contents of a script I was asked what application to use to open the script file. I didn't know so that was that. I'm running on Windows 2000. Is there a special editor to use to write scripts or can I use a Windows Word file to write the script, then use some type of graphcalc conversion application to convert it to a ".gcs" file. I would appreciate your assistance with this issue for I'm ready to write some scripts for an upcoming project. Thank you, Jerome Pryor Classification: UNCLASSIFIED Caveats: NONE |

This is a copy of the email the folks at gcalc asked me to ask yous. Included below. Thanks for your help. Hey. Just wondering if you guys do iMac software, how much a nice 3D version might cost, and where I might get to see it in action first. If you don't do MAC, where might you think I could find a good one? Thanks.
