We have released an updated 'buildroot' uClibc-based toolchain for building gc-linux.org kernels.
(For information about buildroot please see http://buildroot.uclibc.org\)

Note that kernels starting with 2.6.29-rc1 won't build correctly using the previous released toolchain.

We've packaged a ready-to-use version of the classic Kobo Deluxe for the Nintendo Wii. The package is built around our whiite-linux kernel and a small constellation of slightly modified open source software. The rvl-sthcd platform driver allows the use of USB peripherals connected to the Nintendo Wii through gc-linux.

This new driver provides an experimental, nearly complete, USB Host Controller Driver implementation at the kernel level, giving access to the vast majority of devices supported by the standard Linux kernel.

The driver has been tested with different families of external USB devices, including:
- mass storage devices (like pen drives, memory card adapters, hard disks)
- human interface devices (like keyboards, mices)
- ethernet network adapters (like the Nintendo RVL-015)... read more

The rvl-stkbd platform driver allows the use of USB keyboards connected to the Nintendo Wii in gc-linux. Keyboards can be hot-plugged and hot-unplugged as necessary.

We have added support for using SD cards inserted into the front slot of the Nintendo Wii.

The rvl-stsd platform driver allows one to use SD cards without the need of extra hardware. Support for both reading and writing is available. The IO performance is also _much_ better than the classic SD card adapter driver (gcn-sd).

Now it is practical and possible to use filesystems from SD cards :)

We have added support for interfacing with the starlet co-processor found in the Nintendo Wii.

The starlet-ipc platform driver provides a set of primitives enabling the execution of IPC calls to starlet. As a practical example, we have added code to properly restart and shutdown the Nintendo Wii via the starlet processor.

We have added support for the powerpc arch branch in addition to the ppc arch branch.

The ppc branch is scheduled to be removed in June 2008. Thus, this change was needed to ensure the future development of Linux kernel patches for the Nintendo GameCube and Nintendo Wii.
