telnet to dracos.homelinux.net on port 2011 for racegen
ill set the server going after we have four races ready

    universe stats (big)
100 stars to give lots of room
    0% of systems are empty
Min Planets per system = 1
Max Planets per system = 10

Cool, I'll make a race (the VUX) in a little bit.  Thanks for setting this up for us!

By the way, does anyone have a list of currently available clients for Windows or Linux?  I'm stuck using telnet right now.

for those that dont know the server is at the same address as racegen with port 2010

I know I'm loged in as I type this... its cool....

but my god, its been a while - learning the commands again is a bit of a trial.

Been a while since I've done any of this.
Guess we need to use GBII clients to connect to the racegen server? (Was trying telnet directly from my pc but haveing line wrapping cr problems...)

Time to break out my linux box again :)

    • Nobody/Anonymous

      Repodicus,

I tried using PuTTY on my WinXP system and had the same problem with line wrapping.  Telnet from a Linux system worked okay, but if you're using Linux, you may as well grab the precompiled GBII client (available in the files section) which makes things a lot easier.  Hope to see you in the game soon!

if using PuTTY you have to check the box marked
      Implicit CR in every LF
its in the 'Teminal'  options area

If anyone needs a Linux (Sparc) compiled version of gbII I've got one :)

Sparc? you ask... ya I've got like 3 sun sparc 4's and 2 sun sparc 5's... solaris runs like a drowning pig on em, but linux zooms.

Anyway I'm in and thanks for the terminal hints. I'm all set now. See ya in game.

yep, I've put in a second race (the blood farmers!) a tech morphic jovian race (wierd!). Since its a test server I though of testing wome wierd races.

what kind of things are people trying in this game anyway?

    • Nobody/Anonymous

I'm just getting a feel for the game, mostly.  The VUX are ordinary techies.  I wish I'd increased their IQ, though, as tech. progress is painfully slow even with tech funding from my treasury.

the fungoids are interesting, I've build some fairly nasty pieces of work before, but this blob race is just pure evil, good birthrate, combined with a really high metabilism has given me around 20 planets so far. at the height of ship building, I has 700 odd ships out. its been madness. the down side is they take a LOT of tending to, and I haven't had the time, so governers are defently on the cards for the full game.

I'd even be doing better, but I keep assulting the god race :) which is the why of all the missles being thrown around.

its been a hell of a lot of fun. I'd like Colin to do a post of the "state of the universe" sometime. I think it would be good.

the main problem however is that I'm so VERY far away from anyone, (since the only person I've bumped into is the god race).

if anyone wants to pop over and say hi, one of my systems is Sol (which should be easy to remember).

I've been out for the last week as my internet connection was down...

So Repod has fallen behind, but I'm back in the game now and will be continuing the struggle...

By the way how many are playing Mezo's?
      I'm not.

      -Repod (wac)

2 people I think are playing Mezos, Technecally 3, but Bloodfarmers are just put in the game, as a test for me. and won't be actually doing much.
