Orbits, what do we do with them?

planets don't orbit, no really, they don't move from turn to turn.

3 things we can do about it.

    1) prehaps we could care less about it and leave it with planets that don't move.
    2) we could have them move from turn to turn. its easy to do planet orbit mechanics, however setting up stuff like mines and ships around planets for defence (some distance away) won't really work. also we have problems with planets running over ships and stuff like that....
    3) we could turn the planets into orbits, after all years pass like minutes in the game, I'm not sure how long a GB turn is meant to be, but stars start blowing themselves up after 200 odd turns.... you would deal with it master of orion style. Thats OK since in system  is dealt with differently (stars exert gravity).

    What do people think?

Are you sure? It looks like they move in the current game we are playing... I could be wrong, but I'll take some screen captures of my solar system and compare them from update to update to see...

I think they are moving.  The positions and distances of planets in my system have been changing slightly...
