I've spent plenty of time reorganizing the GatherAdmin console. The catalog member is now extracted from AdminConsoleBean.java into its own bean. I've also worked on adding support for the ReunionEvent page on both the Gather and GatherAdmin projects. I believe that the installer is acceptable at this point and it may not make sense to spend time creating a GUI version. The command-line installer is clean and it is functional. The only difference if I coded a GUI version would be in presentation, and I'm not worried about that at this point. I think that we should freeze the code once I've completed testing on the latest modifications to both projects. We should release Gather as it is, and allow other organizations such as reuniteware.com the opportunity to create a "eye-friendly" installer. If you have any additional thoughts, please let me know. Otherwise, I will plan on freezing the Gather project code after tests have been completed. Josh |

Gather - Beta 1 is available for download at this time! After a couple of uploads, the .zip package was accepted and tested as functional. Hopefully we will have a good turnout for beta 1! Josh |

I lied...I said that we officially be in BETA-1 when I wrote again...we are not quite there yet. My hope is to load the code into CVS this evening as time permits. I had a minor issue with the installer which I think is worked out now. I'd like to run through the installation process once again to make sure it works fine before I commit the code. We will get there soon... Josh |

The gather installer is just about complete. I've got just a couple of = more tweaks to do and it will be ready to go. Once I've completed the = installer, I will package both the Gather application source as well as = the GatherAdmin application source. I'd like to take one more quick = glace at the code to ensure that it is clean prior to releasing Beta 1.=20 This is going to be a huge release...lots of effort has gone into the = product and I think it will show. I hope to gain the support of a few = more developers (hopefully using a UNIX-based OS) so that we can make = Gather usable from other operating systems...not just Windows. I think = that the applications themselves should be compliant on other operating = systems, but the installer will need to be adjusted to work on other = platforms. I'll write once again when we have offically released Beta 1... Josh |

I had a chance to play around with the WinSCP3 software a bit last = evening. This is the software you will need to use in order to post web = content on Sourceforge. I can tell you that it was a little of a pain = to set up because you need to obtain a certificate and load it to = Sourceforge before the WinSCP3 application will allow you to = communicate. =20 Once you are authenticated to the server, the WinSCP3 application works = like a Windows Explorer GUI and it allows you to traverse through the = Sourceforge server and place web content into the Gather group page. = I've set up a temporary web page for the Gather project which should = work until you have a chance to create the robust site. =20 Please check out the temporary site at http://gather.sourceforge.net and = let me know if I need to change anything at this time. It is not = pretty, but I figure that it is only temporary and the site which you = are creating will be in place sometime in the future anyways. The = picture is public domain...no problems there. Let me know what you = think about the Gather! notation as opposed to the Gather notation. If = you do not like it at all, I will change it. Also, when you get a chance to play with WinSCP3 let me know, I can help = you with it if you wish. Let me know for sure about the name so I can change if if you think it = would be best. JJ |
