Greetings, I've been looking for an IL-2 flight sim log-parser that is simple but effective. From what I've seen of the demos here, Game Stats may be just the thing.
I noticed on the FAQ that you may entertain the notion of adding a new game to the list of those available for parsing, if only you had a log file to look at. I can certainly accommodate that. The IL-2 series flight sim uses a plain text log file for "co-op" multiplayer games <one life missions; versus "dogfight" servers which allow re-spawning>, but items in the log-file relate directly to items specified in the individual mission file (' .mis ', also a plain text file). Mission briefing text and environment settings (time of day, etc.) are included in a third text file, ' .properties '. Below you'll find an example of each, from a real mission flown recently.
Log file (eventlog.lst) :

Some things to point out in the log file:
the series of numbers at the end of each line are the grid coordinates where the action took place. I can provide a link to the map used for this mission (northern Burma) upon request.
The numbers following the squadron designator at the beginning of each line correspond to the place in formation for that aircraft. Leader is "0", last aircraft is "3", in a four-plane formation. Some formations are smaller, some larger.
Ground untis have various designations, generally something like "3_Chief3" for mobile units, and "26_Static" for stationary units. The *.mis file should provide cross reference for what type of unit each is, and is why having the .mis file as part of the parser setup is necessary. In the cases above, "3_Chief3" is the third vehicle in "3_Chief Vehicles.JapanCarsColumnA 2"; "26_Static" is an artillery piece identified, located and it's orientation <?> noted by the following line: "26_Static vehicles.artillery.Artillery$Type38_75mm 2 76552.23 15738.51 465.00 0.0 0".

A lot to swallow at once.... But if I don't ask, I'll never hear you folks say "are you friggin' nuts?" :)
For what it's worth, there are IL-2 series campaign servers/web sites with full-blown web-stats as part of the mix (' http://war.by-airforce.com/ ' is a fine example of that). The problem is, there are few "light" versions of these around, and the ones that are available do not supply the level of detail the full-blown campaign servers can. I'm looking for a middle ground, with detailed stats but without the full campaign generation stuff.
If you would like to refer to this comment somewhere else in this project, copy and paste the following link:
