What does Game Set Match do?

It helps you generate lists of MAME games you like. You can then feed such a list into your favorite MAME frontend and won't be bothered with non-working or non-fun games anymore.

What was the motivation to create Game Set Match?

See Klaus' story.

Aren't there already programs that do just that?

Not really. Most do not allow to search for all possible criteria and cannot generate game lists for MAME frontends. ROMLister is the honorable exception and there is even source code available, but only for Visual C.

Where does the name Game Set Match come from?

I am not a huge tennis fan but as the program deals with games and ROM sets and can match them with search criteria I found the name fitting.

What programming language is Game Set Match written in?

In Python, Python 2.7 to be precise.

Why Python?

We wanted to a) use an Open Source language and runtime environment, b) be platform independent and c) have rapid turnaround. Java would have been ok, too, but I like Python more and Python has faster turnaround times and therefore faster development cycles.

When will Game Set Match be released?

Shortly after we think it is ready for release.

I can code, can I help?

You most certainly can. Get in touch with the other devs on the Forums and/or just pick a feature from the planned feature list, hack along and submit your work via SVN.

I cannot code, can I help?

Probably. There are lots of tasks that do not involve hacking, e.g. telling us your ideas about the project, translating program texts into a different language or even boosting dev motivation with a friendly word or a small donation.

I found a bug, what should I do?

You can send us a bug report or if that does not work write us a message in the Forum.
