Hello everyone out there. My name is Parag Jain. I'm currently pursuing my B.Tech 3rd year in Computer Science and Engineering from National Institute of Technology, Hamirpur (H.P.), India. I'm really interested to contribute to any of the projects of gambit project . Please someone help me get started. Thanks in advance. |

Hi I am Sandeep Kumar, a second year undergraduate in Iindian Institute of Technology(IIT), Kharagpur. I am enrolled in course Mathematics & Computing. I am interested in contributing to your project. I am a game theory enthusiast. I am a member of collegiate society, The KGPian Game theory society. I have worked on game theory models and also web design of our society's site, http://kgts.in/ I am a GSoc aspirant and I would like to apply under gambit-project for the project Displaying equilibrium diagrams for learning about game theory algorithms. I am studying algoritmic game theory and I have basic idea about this topic. So, I would like to discuss this idea with all the possible mentors. Thanks sandeep Sandeep Kumar 2nd Year UG student Department of Mathematics Indian Institute of Technology Kharagpur |

Hey developers, I am Manipal Singh Junior year student in IIIT hyderabad. I'm interested to contribute to Gambit gsoc project, some of Gambit project are very interesting. I would like to seek some more information regarding the project "GUI Enhancements for GTE", also is there any group chat room kind of something, sadly I unable to find any. Best, Manipal |

Hi Everyone! I'm Sagar , a student from BITS Pilani,Hyderabad Campus,India pursuing a B.E degree in Computer Sc. I'm in my 2nd year and came across your organization on the GSoC list of participating organizations. I was very interested in some of the projects that you have planned and I feel that I can contribute to them. I am quite comfortable in C++,know basic Python and I have started learning some concepts of game theory from this course - https://www.coursera.org/course/gametheory would the knowledge gained from this course be enough to be able to contribute,or is there anything else i should read up on.? How should i proceed so that I can start contributing as soon as possible? P.S- I've already cloned gambit from Github and built it locally on my system . :) Regards, Sagar. |

A repeat for all students interested in contributing to Gambit for GSoC: The Gambit home page and ideas page link to instructions on how to go about expressing interest in the programme. In particular: (1) Posting to gambit-devel is not among those instructions; (2) Those instructions also note that Gambit is not about creating computer games. Students who show that they have not taken the time to read our introduction, have already eliminated themselves from consideration. -- Prof Dr Theodore L Turocy Director, Centre for Behavioural and Experimental Social Science Professor of Economics School of Economics University of East Anglia Norwich Research Park Norwich NR4 7TJ United Kingdom +44 (0) 1603 597179 | T.T...@ue...<mailto:T.T...@ue...> On Mar 8, 2014, at 10:48 AM, Siddhartha Narang <sid...@gm...<mailto:sid...@gm...>> wrote: Hello , I am Siddhartha Narang a second year Undergraduate in INFORMATION TECHNOLOGY at University Institute of Engineering and Technology (UIET) Panjab University, Chandigarh,India . My name is Rahul Anand and I am a third year undergraduate at the IIIT Hyderabad .I was going through the projects listed on ideas page and i found the suggested projects interesting. I have done advanced course in Game Theory and i think that this initiative is very useful for learning game theory related algorithms and concepts. I have good knowledge of C,C++. So as a starting point i downloaded and set up gambit on my system. In the first phase i have understood the workflow of the gambit. Could you suggest me some small projects or bugs which i can work upon to show my enthusiasm towards the project ? Thank you for your time, -- Rahul Anand Sharma, CSD, IIIT Hyderabad |

Hi, I am a student of IIIT-Hyderabad and i am enrolled in a Dual Degree (BTech+MS by research in Game Theory for CS and Multi Agent Systems) Since, my research work is related to it. I have an idea of the Project. At the first look i am having an idea of possible features that can be added to the Project. Kindly guide me on how to contribute to the open source development group. Should i focus on resolving bugs and issues? Regards, Ayush Datta |

Hello, Yes, that is essentially correct - it would be useful to have useful information in the exceptions. It is only very vaguely related to the suggested GSoC project, which is more about transparently unifying file format reading from the end user's perspective. Hello, The short answer is we would of course welcome it if someone were to take on the implementation of symmetric games as a project. Maybe you could answer me two questions: 1) Are there any plans to introduce a file format which consits of only one payoff matrix for two players (which is sufficient, if the given game is symmetric)? 2) Are there any plans to implement some algorithms that only haunt for (mixed) symmetric equilibria? Both would lead to an inprovement regarding memory consumption and would also come with a possible speedup. If there are any reasons besides the lack of developer resources why the symmetric case is not treated differently, it would be very intersting for me to know. If its only the lack of time and resources, I would be happy to contibute to the project and implementing at least the symmetric file format recognition. Besides, is there any other (open source) software besides gambit which specially deals with symmetric (normalform) games? I did not find any. Best regards and thanks in advance, Ismail Khoffi |

Hello folks, I'm a third year undergraduate of the University of Moratuwa(dept. of Computer Science and Engineering). And I'm algorithm(Mathematics) enthusiastic. So this year I decide to contribute for Gambit as my GSoC project. I go through your website and several article and pick up the basic idea about Gambit. So prior to developing Gambit I think it's better to get used to it. So I tried to install Gambit. The thing is now I'm facing a difficulty of installing Gambit to my pc(which runs on windows). Here are the steps I followed, 1] downloaded gambit(gambit-0.2010.09.01.tar.gz<http://sourceforge.net/projects/gambit/files/gambit-stable/0.2010.09.01/gambit-0.2010.09.01.tar.gz/download>) from http://www.gambit-project.org/doc/intro.html#section-downloading 2]extracted it to a directory 3]installed latest MinGW The problem I faced is, which file should I run through MinGW shell to install and run Gambit. And did I missed any steps? Can anyone please help me on this issue. |

Hi All, I am looking for easy bugs to solve to get a feel of code base. The link https://github.com/gambitproject/gambit/issues?labels=easy&sort=created&direction=desc&state=open&page=1doesn't contain bugs(which is good) which appeal much. Even if there aren't any bugs, I would like to work in a small feature which would kick start my involvement. I am good at C,C++ and python.I am looking forward to have a summer of code with gambit in 2013. -- Warm Regards, Ajaya Kumar Agrawal |
