Hi,
I searched the web for some days now to find a gallery that supports not
only images, but also videos (avi/divx/xvid/mp4/mpeg/...), audio files
(mp3/wav/...) and text documents (pdf/tex/doc/odt/...).
I found none that really supports this wide range of filetypes - but I
really need it.
How long do you think implementing a basic support for those types would
take you?

What does the gallery need to do with those files in your eyes to earn the label "supports videos and audio files"?
You can add files of any type to Gallery 2.
If the user has a video player (windows media player, quick time, VLC, ...) then videos are played. Same goes for audio files.
For flash videos (.flv) and .mp3, there are special modules for Gallery to play them with the flash plugin, similar to youtube.

Not all of them seem to produce correct thumbnails. Most videos are supported, thats right, pdf does give a thumbnail too. Would that be possible for other text formats too?
For audio files I would love to have a pre-"view" as well - something like a little flash player that allows to listen to the first 10 seconds or something.
Converting other video files to flv, so one can see them through those mentioned flash plugin as well, would be great as well.
As far as I looked into gallery2 there might be a lack in kategorising files.
Ok, I must admit, that is way beyond "basic" support. I should not have done copy'n'paste this request to multiple gallerys :-/ Sorry for that.
