Zen-cart already has excellent built-in support for digital
products (downloads). Just add the download attributes
(file location, etc.) to your product in Zen-cart after
you've added it through the gallery. For more info how to

The only restriction is that you must keep the digital
downloads (files) in /path_to_zencart/downloads

I reached the same conclusion. Zen Cart does include good
support for downloadable products. The limitation being
that zen cart requires all download files be located in
the 'downloads' folder thus, manually adding the files and
product attributes is required. This may also result in
duplication of files on the server (one copy in g2data and
one in downloads).
I can work with these limitations. I just hope the module
is updated to work with Gallery 2.1 ( I REALLY would like
to use it with the new version of gallery ).

- allow overrides of defaults from within ZC admin
While manually adding the downloads from within Zen Cart
is possible, an updated module would save a lot of work.
