Which version of G3 are you running? I assume you are running 0.999a as it is the latest on the main page. As mentioned in a previous post, I had a similar problem and it was fixed by upgrading to v1.0 RC1: http://prdownloads.sourceforge.net/g3torrent/g3torrent-1.0-RC1.exe?download
This is a release candidate and not a full version but atleast I can now load torrents with G3 and stop using Azureus in all it's java gayness.
I had a problem with RC1 not allowing me to access the network options in setup, uninstalling and reinstalling G3 fixed this.
The status tab in RC1 appearrs somewhat bugged and will not populate untill you switch to another tab and back again.
The multifile manager in RC1 does not seem to do much of anything if the torrent uses subdirectories
I am unable to manually add friends to the friendlist in RC1.
I am unable to load torrents with RC1 from a web browser or associating .torrent files but if I save the .torrent file and drag/drop it onto G3 is loads properly which is a hell of a lot more than it does under 0.999a.
I run Windows 2003 Server with Japanese regional setting, I'd assume your results will be similar under most builds of Windows XP

Does kanji_man's suggestion of using g3 RC1 not help with this problem? Message me via my sourceforge e-mail and I might be able to help you. I want to try and avoid littering the boards with sections of code if at all possible.
