I'm not sure how to answer the question. While not presuming to speak 
for Jeroen, I think he'd probably agree with you that (for example) a 
2-D canvas object would be a nice thing to have. To put things in 
perspective, there's a survey running at the FOX Community Wiki site:

that indicates many additional things that people would like to see for 
FOX (including, as you mentioned, better documentation).

So I think it's worthwhile to raise these points, if for no other reason 
to add your voice to the chorus asking for feature X or Y. At the same 
time, it is important to understand that, for the most part, Jeroen is 
primarily going to work on things that are interesting to him.
