I had an underscore in the username and removed this – no change.
Then step by step I reduced the number of options and ended with the
very basic call:
fwknop.exe -A tcp/443 -s -D 1.2.3.4

Even in this case the same error message (Error 4 - Args contain
invalid data) appears. The Win7 .exe seems not to be compatible to Win8?

That is good set of command line arguments for testing, and supports your guess that the Win7 .exe is not compatible with Win8.

I tried this some time ago without success (can't remember the error
ATM).
I think I will give it a try again…


My guess is that running under Cygwin will produce better results.
