Hi,
I configured the Fwink 0.9.95 Program to make every 20
second a picture with date and timestamp on it and
upload it to the website via FTP.
Everything seems to be ok but the problem is, that the
picture has the right date and time but it is always
the same as from the start of Fwink.
It seems to me, that the program will use the same
picture and put every 20 seconds the date and timestamp
on it and saved it to the Website or file.

Any comments?

Heiko

Sorry for the English, I'm a german guy. ;)

Thanks for the bug report. No need to apologize. Your English is good!

What camera are you using? I think one or two other people had the same problem.

I have this same problem, and I have figured out what causes it (at least on my machines):

If I start Fwink from a remote desktop session, it has the behavior you are all experiencing. If I start Fwink from the actual physical console of my machine, it runs fine.

To clarify: When I first start Fwink from a Remote Desktop session, Fwink takes the initial picture just fine and everything works great. However, all subsequent pictures are identical to that initial picture taken upon startup. Oddly enough, the time/date overlay is updated correctly, but the picture isn't.

If I then close Fwink, log in *locally* on the physical machine (not via RDP) and run Fwink from there, it works perfectly.

I've even tried using the /console parameter with Remote Desktop (mstsc.exe /console), but that doesn't help. Note: The /console parameter tells RDP to log you into the local console session of the machine, rather than onto a separate RDP session.

I have verified that this behavior occurs on Windows 2000, XP, and 2003 when running Fwink via RDP.

This is a bit of a problem for me as I'm running Fwink on a server which has no keyboard/monitor on it. (It's a "headless" server.) So any time I have to reboot (for the regular MS security updates and such), I then have to hook up a keyboard and monitor to that server to get Fwink running again.

For what it's worth, I already submitted this bug in issue # 1499153. :)

I am also noticing that it does not always 'update' the image, although the date / time stamp changes.

I am logging the fils sizes as each upload gets sent to the server, and there are typically only a few bytes different. These would account for the minor change in the time stamp between attempts, but is showing that the underlying image is not always getting refreshed.

Please help! This is a nice cool little piece of software; would be nice to have this solved.

    Mike
