Please help this newbie get his head straight... I downloaded all the RPMs from the FWB web site, but now seem to be going around in circles trying to find the appropriate RPMs that will allow the fwbuilder RPM to load. The following are the error occurs when I try doubleclick the fwbuilder-1.0.10-1.rh9 icon: PACKAGES NOT FOUND libgdkmm-1.2.so.1 libgtkmm-1.2.so.0 libsigc-1.0.so.0 Does it make any difference where the RMPs are initially downloaded to my machine at (currently downloaded to /tmp)? I've tried to download what I thought to be older RPMs (such as gtk+-1.2.8-1.i386.rpm) but when I try to install them I receive a message indicating that a "newer version is already installed"... By the way, both the previously mentioned gtk package is installed as well as libsigc++-1.2.3-0.dag.rh90.i386.rpm. Both of these show "installed" when queried. What the heck is wrong with me? I've burned up half a day of my life over this and am rapidly starting to feel the same as I do around Bill Gates' product line. Any info is MORE than appreciated! |

gtkmm and libsigc++ RPMs on RedHat 8 and 9 are little tricky as RedHat does not supply them. You can find instructions here: http://www.fwbuilder.org/pages/Documents/Build.html RedHat does supply gtk+ package though. The best way would be to remove (using rpm -e) any additional gtk, gtkmm and libsigc++ package you have tried to install so far and then install those recommended in the document above. you can check what is installed on your system by doing "rpm -qa | grep gtk" and "rpm -qa | grep libsigc" --vk On Thursday, May 22, 2003, at 11:33 AM, johnny l. beard wrote: > Please help this newbie get his head straight... > > I downloaded all the RPMs from the FWB web site, but now seem to be > going around in circles trying to find the appropriate RPMs that will > allow the fwbuilder RPM to load. Your advice was right on, so I didn't have to go with Dr. Cox's advice, but I salute you both for answering me without ridicule. My problem's fixed as a result of your effort, and I'll be sure to pass on the same sort of respectful advice to others should I be able to do so in the future. BTW, the two packages that did the trick were: libsigc++-1.2.5-fr1.i386.rpm gtkmm-1.2.10-fr3.i386.rpm jb |
