Hello Paul,

if compiler works with the file, then the file is not corrupted. Does it load into the gui without errors ?

May be you just need to switch object libraries. There is a drop-down widget right above object tree that selects libraries.

Here are few links that describe object libraries:

http://www.fwbuilder.org/4.0/docs/users_guide/object_tree.html

http://www.fwbuilder.org/4.0/docs/users_guide/new-library.html

What OS do you run fwbuilder on ?

hi --

i have a firewall that i've been maintaining with fwbuilder for many
years.  i don't need to modify it often, so sometimes several versions
of fwbuilder can go by between upgrades.  it's not uncommon that
fwbuilder wants to rewrite the file to bring the format up to date.

after a recent upgrade (version numbers below), the .fwb file that
results after the automatic upgrade can be compiled successfully with
fwb_ipt, but can't be read successfully by the fwbuilder gui.  in the
gui, none of my "real" content appears after opening the file -- all i
get is standard template objects.

i see no options for enabling extra verbosity or debug, else i'd have
tried that.  i did search the bug tracker a bit, as well as googling,
of course, but came up empty.  i'm kind of hoping someone will
recognize those symptoms, and simply tell me to upgrade, or maybe to
apply a small workaround.

my current (new) version of fwbuilder is 3.0.7, build 1477.  (it came
along with ubuntu lucid.)

the top of the xml of the upgraded fwb file it created looks like:
   <FWObjectDatabase xmlns="http://www.fwbuilder.org/1.0/" version="10"
       id="root">

the top of the old pre-upgrade file looks like:
   <FWObjectDatabase xmlns="http://www.fwbuilder.org/1.0/" version="2.1.14"
       lastModified="1226338671" id="root">

to be honest, i'm not sure what version of fwbuilder i last used, but
i'm hoping we can assume it was 2.1.14, as shown in that version
field in the pre-upgrade file.  i can probably pull the actual version
from backup if i need to, but it would definitely have been an ubuntu
version from the last year or two.

any pointers welcomed -- thanks!

paul
