modprobe is often not included in embedded systems as it is quite large
often only insmod is available.  It is assumed the the user is familiar enough with the system to be able to load modules in the correct order with insmod

shell function check_tools is defined in the configlet
check_utilities, you can have your own version of this configlet that
would not check for modprobe. Here is how to do it:

http://www.fwbuilder.org/4.0/docs/users_guide/configlets.html

I'll make checking for modprobe conditional. The script needs it only
if option "load iptables modules" is turned on, or when the script has
to configure vlan or bonding interfaces. If neither of these options
is in use, there is no need to check for the presence of modprobe.
Obviously if modprobe is not there, the script can't load modules so
loading iptables modules and configuring vlan or bonding interfaces
won't work.

I dont understand why did they get rid of modprobe.

Start uncovering the many advantages of virtual appliances
and start using them to simplify application deployment and
accelerate your shift to cloud computing.
