My mistake, you will not want to share the whole themes/ dir. It should be:

  ln -s ../../.fvwm/themes/personal $HOME/.fvwm:0.0/themes/personal
  ln -s ../../.fvwm/themes/personal $HOME/.fvwm:0.1/themes/personal
  ln -s ../../.fvwm/themes/current-one $HOME/.fvwm:0.0/themes/current-one
  ln -s ../../.fvwm/themes/current-one $HOME/.fvwm:0.1/themes/current-one
