How would I be able to obtain such details in future?  Is there a

With regard to this I have reported the problem back to Gentoo, my Linux 
distributor (where fuse-2.9.1-r1 is the latest version so far); see 
https://bugs.gentoo.org/show_bug.cgi?id=437568#c11
