I was just running VMWare Workstation for Linux (using FC4 with kernel
2.6.11), and trying to use its "shared folder" to access a well-mounted
sshfs, but nothing was shown up in the guest OS (Win2K Pro). However,
VMWare claimed that their "shared folder" can be used with any
network-mounted fs. Both VMWare 5.5.1 and 6.0 beta suffer from this problem.
As suggested, strace has been tried, but nothing interesting can be
found from the log. (even no opendir() or readdir()) If letting strace
follow VMWare's mutiple processes, the guest OS will fail to start. Once
I suspected that the reason is wrong uid/gid, but even after overriding
with "-o uid=XXX" and "-o gid=YYY", nothing has changed. Is there any
other possible reason or hint that why this could happen?
