[I'm not on the list, so I'd appreciate a Cc if you reply. Thanks]
Dear FUSE developers,
I'm building a FUSE client to make storage servers accessible on the
compute nodes of IBM Blue Gene/P.
I have found the 128 KiB limit on read requests to be a performance
limitation. Searching through the archives of this mailing list, it looks
like I'm not alone. However, my situation is somewhat different. The PPC
nodes that FUSE is running on are configured for 64-KiB pages. Hence,
given the 32-page limit of FUSE, this should give 2 MiB requests... yet all
I see is 128 KiB...
Any hint why that is? Is perhaps the request size limited to the max
readahead, which seems to be hardcoded in the kernel to 128 KiB? Will the
patch that I saw in the archives that is expected to be incorporated into
the 2.6.26 kernel help, or is it only for writing? We are running kernel
18.104.22.168, so we can't easily apply the patch and try, but if you expect the
patch to help, that could provide enough motivation to update :-).
