Any options that are checked in 'options/peripherals/general' become un-checked upon loading a snapshot. Checked options are restored after closing and re-opening Fuse.
This happens in both Linux and Win versions of Fuse.

No, Spectrum software doesn't expect Kempston joystick interfaces to be hot-swappable and several titles break when the confuguration changes under them.
You should update the snapshot to enable the interface by using a snapshot editor or saving a new snapshot with the hardware configuration you want configured.

Thanks for confirming that Fredrick. Having a lot of games in different file formats means it would be a massive task to re-save each one with a specific config. It'll probably be easier to stay with 1.5.2 for now.

Understood - the problem for Fuse is that some software stops working properly if you try to change the hardware underneath it and it can't tell in advance. Snapshot states are records of specific config so it is the right place for the information.
Would it help if there was a command line utility that could enable Kemston joystick in a snapshot?

Not really Fredrick. As I say, having many tzx/tap/z80/etc files makes it too much work to change every file and save as a Fuse snap. An optional command line switch to disable this behaviour would be preferable, and if I change the hardware and it crashes, well that's my problem! :)
Another question if I may...
On the SDL/Linux version of Fuse, is there any way for the open file dialog to display a single column so that long filenames can be read? Another option would be for the filename to scroll back and forth when highlighted.
Here's what we currently have with long filenames: https://imgur.com/VwEU8Az
Thanks

Sorry, I didn't read the release notes, this is a feature as of 1.5.3.
Is there any way to disable it so that I don't have to go into options an re-enable kempston joystick every time a .sna or .z80 is loaded?
Thanks
