#8 SUpport for VMS directories

Dear SIrs,

Fabulous work. Congrats and thanks.

The present release does not seem to support VMS
directory syntax. (for example user$common:[fugu] for
/user$common/fugu).

Perhaps there is a workaround I am not aware of.
