Filezilla can set remote charset for a bookmark.
Then It convert messages and filenames over traffic automatically.

I personally suggest this can be dealing with one more data feild for
connection.
Tree model store one more column for view-only purpose,
while original filename column used for file transferring.

I use wxgtk-2.6 package on ubuntu edgy and this might be unicode build.
