Ryan, Is anything else talking to the device and confusing it? ModemManager is one possible culprit, I have that disabled via a udev rule: SUBSYSTEM=="usb", ATTRS{idVendor}=="0403", ENV{ID_MM_DEVICE_IGNORE}="1" > but I think my kernels should > be new enough (2.6.33.7.2-rt30-1-686 and > 2.6.18-348.3.1.el5.centos.plusPAE) to not need it. If I do need it, is > there a guide on how to install available? Those kernels are quite old. There have been many changes to the ftdi_sio driver since. I would sanity check with newer kernels, the easiest way to do that might be to download a bootable CD image.
