I tried building fsthost32 and wine 1.8 recently, and found that the vst display wasn't drawn, and I had no difficulty with wine 1.6 and fsthost 1.5.4. Any ideas here?
Also, I tried running the VAZ Modular demo v3.2.3, and regardless of how I patch it up, I get no sound in or out. Does anyone have a clue for me?
Thanks!

I tried ( and recommended ) wine-staging 1.9. There is some strange bug in latest wine version ( since 1.7.30 ) , maybe this is your case. Try disable d2d1 in winecfg, according to this: https://bugs.winehq.org/show_bug.cgi?id=37579
Is your plugin/fsthost corectly connected. You can check this in qjackctl or other tool to manage connections. Also, give a try to fsthost 1.6.0.

That's somewhat unhappy as my vstrun script creates a temporary directory to serve as the WINEPREFIX. I would need to fix this by hand each time. Bleah!
For VAZ, yes, my host is correctly connected. I have used fsthost with several VST instruments and effects with no apparent problem. This is specific to VAZ.
